No Sirius iPod Coming Soon
Every few years, the rumor mill perks up with talk, speculation, or simply hope that Apple and Sirius will team up and put Sirius content on the iPod.
It ain’t gonna happen folks. At least not any time soon. And the reason is simple: Apple makes money selling music on the iTunes store. Until Apple has a subscription model of their own to use, they certainly aren’t going to cut into their a la carte business by using someone *else’s* subscription model.
At least that’s my take on it. Tell me I’m wrong. I dare ya. 😉

The only way I see it happening is if Sirius somehow subsides the device, sort of like the iPhone with ATT. Sirius might do that to build more of a customer base, but I still doubt the potential increased device sales for Apple would offset the potential iTunes revenue loss, engineering effort and increased manufacturing costs.

With the announcement that Apple has finally (haha!) become the #1 music distributor in the US I find it hard to believe that Apple would allow any other model for music distribution other than their own to be built into their hardware or software natively. Of course they will continue to allow any form of non-DRM media to be played through their products, but that’s about it.
I don’t see a good reason why Apple would allow a service like Sirius to work with iPods at all frankly.
